There is no way to make money online quickly and without effort. Legitimate business models differ mainly in how much startup capital they need, how long it takes to make your first sale, which skills are required and how well they scale. If you want to start quickly, you usually begin with a service; if you want to scale in the long run, you build a team or your own products.
Ratings are our own assessment, not a measurement. First sale = typical time until your first revenue with serious effort.
| Business model | Startup capital | First sale | Scalability | Main risk |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Freelancing with in-demand skills (writing, design, video, programming) | low | Weeks | limited | Trading time for money, dependence on a few clients |
| AI-powered services (automation, content, chatbots) | low | Weeks | medium | Market changes fast, quality has to be right |
| UGC creator (videos for brands) | low | Weeks to months | limited | Dependence on commissions and platforms |
| Social media agency | low | Months | high | Winning clients, building a team |
| Creator management agency (e.g. OnlyFans, Fansly, Fanvue) – 18+ onlyLearn more | medium | Months | high | Legal requirements, reputation, dependence on creators |
| Affiliate marketing with your own content | low | Months to years | high | Search engine updates, long ramp-up time |
| Digital products and online courses | low | Months | high | Reach needed; in some countries online courses need approval (e.g. ZFU in Germany) |
| E-commerce with your own brand | high | Months | high | Inventory, advertising costs, returns |
| Dropshipping | medium | Weeks to months | medium | Low margins, delivery times, consumer protection law |
| Print on demand | low | Months | medium | Low margins, trademark and copyright law |
Rather be employed than self-employed? Remote jobs are an option too – for example making money by chatting (German).
If you only have a few hours a week, services that you can fit in flexibly work best. Important: even a side business usually has to be registered and taxed (the rules depend on your country), and it must not conflict with your obligations to your employer.
Best fit: Freelancing, UGC creator, AI-powered services, remote jobs
It rarely works with no money at all, but it can with very little: if you offer your skills as a service, you mainly need time, a laptop and a registered business. Models with inventory or an advertising budget come later.
Best fit: Freelancing, social media agency, affiliate marketing with your own content
AI is not a business model, it's a tool. The people who make money are those who use it to solve a specific problem faster or better than others – for example writing, images, automation or customer service for businesses. Be careful with offers that promise “passive income with AI”.
Best fit: AI-powered services, digital products, agency models
A creator management agency handles marketing, chat support and organisation for creators on platforms such as OnlyFans, Fansly or Fanvue – and receives a share of the revenue in return. The account and the rights stay with the creator.
What you need: a registered business or a company, fair contracts with creators and chatters, a reliable chat team, software for several platforms and knowledge of data protection and platform rules. This model is strictly for adults (18+).
Realistic hurdles: It takes time before the first creators trust you. The chat team is usually the biggest cost item, and the industry is criticised because of dubious providers – which makes being trustworthy a real competitive advantage.

The fastest way is a service that businesses need – such as writing, design, video editing or AI automation. Models with a team or your own products are more scalable in the long run, for example an agency, digital products or your own brand. All of them take time and skills, and usually a registered business.
Legitimate offers are open about effort, costs and risks, don't promise a specific income and work with written contracts. Be careful with guarantees, time pressure, upfront payment for a “system” and models where you mainly earn by recruiting more participants.
With little capital, yes – especially with services where you use your time and skills. It rarely works with no costs at all: business registration, software, advertising or training almost always come up.
There is no reliable one-size-fits-all figure. It depends on the model, your skills, the time you put in and the market. For the first few months, plan for learning and building rather than profit.
No one can seriously promise a daily amount – and offers that promise exactly that are among the most common red flags. As a rule, only self-employed people with in-demand skills, clients and often a team reach amounts like these, after months or years of building. Plan realistically: learn first, then win your first clients, then grow.
Most likely with a service that businesses pay for regularly, or with a side job. Whether and when that works depends on your skills, your time per week and demand. Remember business registration and taxes – and that revenue is not profit.
Yes, if AI solves a real problem for clients – such as creating content faster, automating processes or answering enquiries. Nobody makes money from a tool alone; what matters is quality, clients and trust.
AI speeds up many tasks – writing, images, research, customer service, automation. This creates new services, but also more competition. As a rule, the people who make money are those who use AI for a client's specific problem, not those who just operate a tool.
